About us
We've started a creative collaboration at the intersection of writing, art, design, and fun. Our mission is to inspire in kids a love of reading and writing through the creation of playful, meaningful stories that are (we hope) as fun to read as they are beautiful to look at.
At the beginning of 2025, we (officially) set out in pursuit of our shared goal: a sustainable way of life that aligns our values with our skills and interests. We created Big & Important, LLC to devote ourselves full time to the creation of children's books, as well as the design of interactive toys, games, and educational experiences.
Lindsey is a children's book writer and former English teacher who loves literature, the outdoors, and hanging out with her husband and three daughters. She marvels at the power of art and literature to increase our capacity for awareness, empathy, and independent thought. She strives to share this awe with her own daughters—and anyone else who wants to listen. We live in Spokane but hightail it to the mountains as often as we can.
Jacob is a designer/illustrator and lifelong lover of children's books, cartoons, and toys. He loves being outdoors and listening to his daughters point out his faults.
